In 2016, Architect John Grosvenor and his wife, Writer Cheryl Hackett embarked on the restoration of Restmere.  The project entailed bringing the building up to code, upgrading all mechanicals and plumbing, adding a fire stair, replacing the roof, restoring light fixtures, refinishing floors, renovating the kitchen, rebuilding  fireplaces, and restoring the landscape. John and Cheryl were successful in their campaign to have Restmere listed individually on the National Register of Historic Place in 2018.  Restmere is also the proud recipient of the 2019 Doris Duke Historic Preservation Award and the 2019 Rhody Award for Historic Preservation.
